In this article you will learn:
1. What is a link?
Linking two tasks in the netplan creates a dependency between those two tasks
The task the link starts from (predecessor) should be done before the task the link goes to (successor) starts
Links support your project plan with a clear sequence of tasks
2. Where and how to link a task?
Links can be created by any member of the project that has admin or editing permissions
There are two ways of creating links in the netplan:
1. Link tasks by drag and drop:
Open the netplan
Move your mouse above a connector icon right from the task card
When pressing and holding on the icon a link will get glued to your mouse
Drag the link to the task card you want to link to
Drop the link above the task card
A link will get established and you created a successor of your original task
Tip: To use automatic backward calculation from the project due date on your project plan link the last task to the project due date marker.
2. Link tasks via the three-dot-menu on the netplan task card
Open the netplan
Open the three-dot-menu on the task you want to link from
Select Link task
A link will instantly be glued to your mouse
Move the link to the task you want to link to and click on the task
The link will get established and you created a new successor of your original task
If you want to stop the linking process before reaching any successor task, just click anywhere in the netplan and the link will get detached from your mouse
3. What happens next
After you created links you can move the task, create more links and continue to plan your project
